Chichen Itza

El castillo - the castle -

This archaeological site is one of the new seven wonders of the world since 2007.

Mayan culture flourished in this Southeast Mexican State of Yucatan. Chichen Itza was the largest city on the northern plains. The castle is one of the most attractive buildings in this archaeological site. It was devoted to Kukulkan.

There are several other buildings in this place. The Ball Game was a ceremonial is one of them. Although archaeologists and historians claim to know more about this activity, the truth is that all Mayan books were destroyed by Catholic priests and colonizers. All information about pre-Columbian civilizations are filtered by European perspective.
